WINE TRAILS

Openness and restlessness are essential properties in KTIMA AKRANI’s wine-making mentality. Simultaneously with the erection of the new facilities, we created an experimental vine that now hosts more than thirty rare Greek varieties, in order to study the adaptation potentials of these varieties into the Dodekanisian “terroir”. The same goal of research is also obtained by the proprietary vineyard, already spreading in 150,000m² after extending the plantations in the clay-rocky soil of Miniera, and new plantations in the sandy limestone soil of Kardamena, at the south of mountain Dikaios.

Deploying the experience of twenty -five years, the family aspires to create its own legacy in wine-making production, conducting experimental  vinifacations and applying vinification protocols that designate the quality features  of rare Greek varieties. The outcome of those efforts are embodied in REGIONAL EXPRESSIONS series. They are wines that depict the local expressions of Greek varieties into the Kos’ “terroir”, and the wine quests of our group that keeps searching and visualizing.
